@kgonepostl It USED to be- back in 2008 when this video was made. Nowadays the Prius is made using largely reusable energy, and has gone to the top again in terms of environmental friendliness- by far (at least in the Am market)

Its ugly, and handles like a brick. A car has to have one of three things for me to bey it. power, beauty or soul. The prius has none of these. I look at car as works of art.

the hybrid thing is a step in the wrong direction.. we could have awsome loud and fast cars running on ethonal... not from corn.. from hemp... its maked over 10 times more ethonal than corn

its like a nessary evil boring lame but needed, hopefully eventualy americans will do a better job at it, lastley u know the real reason y we want hybrids, long term cars might get so efficient that they'll start getting bigger again

Is it the making of the nickel or the nickel itself? I believe that the battery's can be recycled very easily, so I don't see how that's a factorBtw, I don't know anything about cars, but I do know a thing or two about battery's, at least I think I do :-P

Yeah, I think they would sell like hotcakes if they were introduced to the market on a massive scale, especially in small, compact cars. I heard they may bring over the diesel Mini Cooper, which would be great. Americans just aren't exposed to them and think they are smokey or slow, which is nonsense. Almost every car in Europe you see is a compact diesel.

The Jetta TDI is the best little diesel car you can get. Tell a stupid American to look into a diesel and they will be ignorant enough to say that they are smokey and clattery, hardly the case since the newest diesels are smooth and quiet and in my opinion almost on par with the smoothest running gasoline powered engines. Its funny how marketing and corporate big boys can literally run the American people but common sense too hard to practice.
bob24479 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
True, clean diesel is the way to go. Plus, almost all gasoline is diluted with 10% ethanol, so a hybrid gets slightly less mileage than advertised. My friend has a brand new Jetta TDI, 50+ mpg usually. Unfortunately, most major companies don't think Americans are "ready for diesels."

Hey, lay off Toyota. When you sell a billion of something, problems are inevitable. American car companies have been building pieces of crap for decades, attempting to block EVERY single increase in emissions regulations and giving ridiculous wages to their mafia-esque unions, and we rewarded them by giving them billions of taxpayer dollars. Our politicians are concerned with the interests of their friends in Detroit, and that's what this is all about.

Lets just hope that it can stop when you apply the brakes, it doesn't get a mind of its own and go up to 120mph, the steering doesn't lock up and the air bags deploy WHEN you do crash from one of the 3 previous mentioned problems. BUY AMERICAN!!! |
